Pedestrian left with ‘life-threatening’ injuries after hit-and-run in central Phoenix

PHOENIX — A pedestrian has “life-threatening injuries” after a hit-and-run Friday night in central Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers with the Phoenic Police Department were called to the area of 19th and Glendale avenues for reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision around 9:15 p.m.

Shortly after police found the man in roadway with serious injuries, Phoenix fire personnel took him to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man was not there when officers arrived, police said.

Detectives who assumed investigation of the incident said the man was likely “crossing in a crosswalk, against the light when he was hit.”
