Guatemalan man facing charges after allegedly assaulting Arizona border patrol agent

A Guatemalan man was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a border patrol agent while he was illegally crossing the border.

PHOENIX — A Guatemalan man was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a border patrol agent while he was illegally crossing the border, authorities said.

Edy Eduardo Sicajan-Jochola, 23, faces charges of assault on a federal agent and improper entry into the country, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona said in a press release.

The complaint states a border patrol agent found two migrants near Sasabe on Nov. 29, which prompted Sicajan-Jochola to allegedly swing his backpack at the agent, striking him in the face and shoulder.
