PHOENIX — A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in central Phoenix on Friday night.
Phoenix police officers responded to a call just after 9 p.m. at 19th Avenue and Durango Street, just north of the Interstate 17, to assist Department of Public Safety troopers, authorities said.
After Phoenix police arrived, personnel from both the Phoenix Police Department and DPS became involved in the shooting, according to authorities.
The man that was struck by gunfire was pronounced dead at the scene by the Phoenix Fire Department, officials said.
The Major Incident Division of the Department of Public Safety has taken over the ongoing investigation.
Additional details about what led to the shooting were not immediately released.
This is the third officer-involved shooting in Phoenix this year.
