PHOENIX — A man died Thursday after crashing his car into a building near State Route 51 and Colter Street, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

The man exited the southbound freeway and struck a vehicle and a wrong way sign before crashing into a business.

“He exited the 51 off-ramp, but he never really slowed down from what we could gather,” DPS spokesman Bart Graves told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

The man was ejected from the car and pronounced dead on the scene.

The exit ramp was closed for several hours while police investigated the incident.

No one else, including the other driver and people in the building, was injured.
