Man dead in shooting after confrontation with woman at Phoenix intersection

A 54-year-old man is dead after confronting and being shot by a woman who was in her car at a Phoenix intersection on Saturday afternoon.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after confronting and being shot by a woman at a Phoenix intersection on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at Missouri and 7th avenues around 2:15 p.m. and found a man, later identified as 54-year-old Stephen Guardino, with a gunshot wound.

Guardino was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died from his wounds.

The unidentified woman remained on the scene to talk with officers.

Details on shooting at Phoenix intersection

Detectives who took over the scene learned that Guardino had been driving before he stopped and exited his car to confront an adult woman, who was in a car.

When Guardino approached her vehicle at the intersection, the woman pulled out a gun and shot him.

After officers questioned her, the woman was released “pending further investigation,” according to authorities.

This an ongoing investigation. No other information was provided.
