Man dead following shooting involving El Mirage police officers

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a shooting involving officers with the El Mirage Police Department on Wednesday evening.

The shooting occurred near 115th Avenue and Columbine Drive around 5:40 p.m., according to El Mirage PD.

ABC15 reported that police received multiple calls about a man behaving suspiciously in the area.

The man reportedly was armed with a gun or other weapon at the time of the shooting, according to the Phoenix TV station.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and no officers were injured in the incident.

It was the second fatal shooting involving metro Phoenix police officers on Wednesday.

The first occurred a few hours earlier in the southeast Valley, where a man was killed in an incident involving the Queen Creek Police Department.
