Man dead, firefighter hurt in north Phoenix house fire
A man is dead after a home in north Phoenix caught fire Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a home in north Phoenix caught fire Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
At 1:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a call about a house fire at 13849 N. 38th Street, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

As fire officials arrived, there was heavy smoke and fire coming from inside the home.
When firefighters entered the home, they found an unconscious man who was not breathing.
The man whose name was not released was pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control to prevent it from spreading to other homes.
A firefighter was taken to the hospital with burn injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
