Man dies at hospital after being stabbed in west Phoenix

The Phoenix Police Department broke news on Monday of a man dead after a stabbing that took place last week. Here are the details.

PHOENIX — A stabbing in west Phoenix last week led to the death of a 27-year-old man, authorities said on Monday.

Law enforcement responded to news of a stabbing in the area of 27th and Northern avenues around 3 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Details on the call to Phoenix police said the assault victim, Martin McKinney, left the area. After searching, they found McKinney nearby with at least one stab wound.

Law enforcement brought him to a nearby hospital. Initially, his injuries were considered to be nonlethal, but his condition worsened while he was receiving treatment, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives with the Phoenix Police Department’s Violent Crimes Bureau took over the investigation.

No other details were made available as this is an ongoing investigation.

The headline seems to indicate that there is a body part called "west Phoenix." Never heard of if but I'm not a doctor either.
