Man dead after being shot, run over in west Phoenix

PHOENIX — A 56-year-old man is dead after being shot and run over in west Phoenix on Sunday, authorities said.

Offices responded to a report of a hit-and-run around 3:15 p.m. near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

When they arrived they found John Kearns shot and laying inside a strip mall parking lot.

During the investigation they learned Kearns was shot by a driver of a vehicle, then was run over by that vehicle, police said. It drove off from the area.

The investigation remains ongoing.

No vehicle or suspect description was released at this time.
