Man critically injured after another driver fires at car in West Valley

PHOENIX — A man sustained life-threatening injuries after a driver in another vehicle fired at his car in the West Valley early Monday.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department said the shooting occurred around 3:40 a.m. in the area of 91st and Campbell avenues.

Thompson said after the 33-year-old male victim was shot, his vehicle came to a stop next to a curb. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Information about a suspect or suspect vehicle was not immediately released.

91st Avenue was closed in both direction between Indian School and Camelback roads. The southbound portion of the road reopened around 9 a.m.

The shooting comes less than two days after a teenager was killed and another was injured in an apparent road rage shooting in Glendale. The suspect in the shooting is still on the loose.

A 20-year-old was arrested earlier this month in connection to another road rage shooting in Phoenix that killed a 10-year-old girl.

Joshua Gonzalez is facing one count of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault in connection to the murder of Summer Brown.
