Man accused of killing his father arrested in Chandler

PHOENIX — A man accused of killing his father was arrested in Chandler, authorities said Monday.

Officers responded to a vehicle collision call near Rural and Ray roads in Tempe at about 8:15 p.m. on Friday and found John Fox stabbed multiple times before he eventually died, Tempe Det. Natalie Barela said in an email.

The suspect, 20-year-old Joshua Fox, fled from the scene in a vehicle and crashed near Dobson and Elliott roads in Chandler, Barela said.

Fox was apprehended and taken to a hospital for his injuries.

After treatment, he told officers that he was in an argument with his father before the stabbing happened, according to police. Fox told police he blacked out during the argument and was “triggered.”

Fox was charged with homicide, criminal trespassing and burglary, and transportation violations.

Fox has not entered a plea, and it was not clear if he had a lawyer who could respond to the charges on his behalf.
