PHOENIX — A man is facing trespassing charges after allegedly jumping from a plane onto the tarmac at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport early Friday.

Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the 25-year-old suspect was on an American Airlines flight from Minneapolis that landed at the Phoenix airport around 6:15 a.m.

The man was brought to the front of the plane after landing to disembark first because of some strange behaviors that he was exhibiting, such as touching other passengers’ faces and spraying a spray bottle on them.

While the man was waiting for the door to the jetway to open, he opened the service door on the opposite side of the plane and jumped out.

The man sustained minor injuries when he landed on the ground about 10 feet below. He was stopped by airport employees and was taken into custody without incident.

Airport operations were not disrupted, Thompson said. Police do not know what was inside the bottle.
