Lottery tickets from Peoria grocery stores win $1M in The Pick, $50,000 in Powerball

PHOENIX – Peoria was the place to be if you were buying lottery tickets over the weekend.

One grocery store in the West Valley suburb sold a $1 million jackpot ticket, while a supermarket sold a $50,000 winner.

The jackpot ticket for Saturday’s The Pick drawing came from the Fry’s Food Store at 75th Avenue and Cactus Road. It matched all six winning numbers: 6, 14, 22, 30, 32 and 38.

The Pick is a $1 Arizona Lottery drawing held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

While the odds of winning The Pick’s top prize are 1 in over 7 million, the game has had two jackpot winners in a span of four drawings. On March 14, a ticket sold at the Albertsons at 19th and Northern avenues in Phoenix matched all six numbers.

Meanwhile, a Powerball ticket sold at the Fry’s at 91st and Olive avenues won $50,000 on Saturday. It matched four of the five white numbers – 12, 28, 36, 41 and 59 – plus the red Powerball of 2.

Powerball is a multistate game of chance with $2 tickets. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night. The estimated jackpot for Monday’s drawing increased to $133 million after going unclaimed.

The odds of winning the top Powerball prize are 1 in more than 292 million.

Arizona Lottery winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
