PHOENIX — A closure on a portion of Loop 101 in north Scottsdale is the only major freeway detour for a majority of the weekend for Valley drivers, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

Two restrictions on Interstate 10 begin Sunday night, with one occurring overnight between Sunday and Monday and the other continuing during the night throughout next week.

Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to the two left lanes between the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway and the Interstate 17 “Stack” interchange near downtown Phoenix from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights for pavement repairs.

The northbound Loop 202 primary ramp to eastbound I-10 will be closed during the project, but the HOV ramp will remain open. Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 43rd and 35th avenues and the off-ramp at 35th Avenue will also be closed.

In the East Valley, both I-10 ramps to the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement maintenance. The northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at McDowell Road will also be closed as part of the restriction.
