Loop 101 closure in north Scottsdale, I-10 restrictions planned for weekend

PHOENIX — A section of Loop 101 will be closed and multiple parts of Interstate 10 restricted this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between Scottsdale Road and Pima Road/Princess Drive in north Scottsdale, as well as the eastbound on-ramp at 64th Street, from 10 pm. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Crews will be placing temporary barriers and lane-stripe adjustments for a freeway widening project.

Drivers should expect heavy traffic and use an alternate route, including eastbound Bell Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard south of Loop 101.

Drivers can also take Scottsdale Road north from Loop 101, head east on Thompson Peak Parkway and return to the freeway by going south on Pima Road.

Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane near 67th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane nightly near 59th Avenue from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Both I-10 closures are for work on an interchange for the South Mountain Freeway project.
