The family of Logan Almodova, the 16-year-old boy who died after an incident in San Tan Valley last week, is asking people to remember him for more than what happened to him.

“He is so much more than a headline. He is our son. A brother. A grandson. A friend,” his mother, Megan Almodova, wrote in a social media post Sunday.

What happened to Logan Almodova?

The post came three days after Logan was found seriously injured on Murray Grey Drive, near Gary Road and Empire Boulevard, around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

He was airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital, where he later died, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said there was evidence indicating he was hit by a car.

“There is still an active investigation into what happened. We ask that you please allow law enforcement to do their work, refrain from speculation and judgment, and give our family grace as we grieve,” Megan Almodova said in the post. “This is not a time for judgment or criticism.”

She said Logan loved fishing with his grandfather, wanted to travel the world and was looking forward to getting his driver’s license.

Family asks public to share details about the case, no matter how small

Three boys under 18 who knew Logan were taken into custody after the crash. They have since been released, the agency said.

“There is information surrounding what happened to Logan that is still being investigated,” Megan Almodova’s social media post read. “But as Logan’s parents, we need people to understand this: What happened to Logan was not simply an accident.”

The family urged anyone with information to contact the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office at 520-866-5111 and ask for Detective Ramon Gonzalez.

“Our family wants the truth to come out through the investigation. We want accountability. We want answers for Logan,” Megan Almodova wrote. “Right now, our community can help us find that truth.”

The family’s GoFundMe is seeking $22,000 to help the family take time away from work to grieve without financial stress.
