Limber up and help set a world record at massive Mesa goat yoga class

PHOENIX – If stretching, petting zoos and world records are up your alley, we’ve got just the thing for you.

Goat Yoga Arizona will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for largest goat yoga class Feb. 23 at Mesa Amphitheatre.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and sign up online for the $15 history-making session, which will include 30 minutes of yoga and plenty of time for critter snuggles and photo ops.

The class of 350 students, which starts at 9:30 a.m., is expected to fill up.

Guinness will be checking IDs and turning away anybody under 18.

More than 70 goats will be on hand to mingle with and climb over yogis. Maisy the cow and two alpacas, Napoleon and Kip, will also be there for cuddling duties.

It’s all part of the first National Goat Yoga Month celebration by Goat Yoga Arizona, the Gilbert-based creators of an experience that combines downward-facing dogs with friendly farm animals.

According to the group’s website, what started as an eight-person boot camp in February 2015 has evolved into weekly sold-out sessions.
