PHOENIX — Don’t put away the umbrellas just yet, Phoenix: The National Weather Serivce is calling for another round of storms later this week.

“A few of them could be approaching severe levels, with gusty winds, blowing dust and maybe some hail possible,” Marvin Percha with the weather service said.

The forecast calls for Monday to be relatively clear, but stormy weather could move in later. There is a 20 percent chance of showers on Tuesday, a 10 percent chance on Wednesday and a 20 percent chance on Thursday.

Percha said the storms will not be Valleywide. Instead, smaller areas will likely receive heavy rain over short periods of time.

“It’s going to be very localized,” he said. “A lot of areas may not see any, but some of these localized areas could see heavy downpours — maybe a half-inch or even more.”

The weather is expected to move out of the area on Friday.

The storms will not affect temperatures much. Highs on both Monday and Tuesday will be slightly below 90 degrees, while Wednesday will be 92 and both Saturday and Sunday will be 95.

Monday’s low will be about 70 degrees and the overnight temperature will rise to nearly 75 degrees by Thursday.

Phoenix received similar rainfall last week. On Thursday, a fast-moving storm crossed the Valley just before the afternoon rush hour, dropping as much as seven-tenths of an inch in some parts of the city.
