Former Arizona gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake is headed to the Caribbean, pending Senate confirmation.
President Donald Trump on Monday nominated Lake to serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Jamaica.
Lake, a former Phoenix television news anchor, became one of Arizona’s most recognizable Republican figures after launching her political career in 2021.
She won the GOP nomination for governor in 2022 but lost the general election to Democrat Katie Hobbs.
Two years later, she ran for U.S. Senate and lost to Democrat Ruben Gallego.
After her Senate loss, Lake was tapped by the Trump administration to lead the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the federal agency that oversees Voice of America and other government-funded international broadcasters.
The ambassadorship to Jamaica would mark her first diplomatic post.
“Jamaica is a country I know very well, full of incredible people, and if confirmed by the Senate, I look forward to strengthening the partnership between our nations,” Lake said in a statement posted on X. “Honored to continue serving in this HISTORIC Administration!”
Lake was among more than a dozen nominations Trump sent to the Senate on Monday, including Douglas Mastriano of Pennsylvania as ambassador to the Slovak Republic and Cameron Hamilton of Virginia as administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The nominations now await Senate confirmation.

Yet another one of his "DEI" hires... according to him, that's when someone is completely unqualified for the job but gets it based on their skin color
Sarcastic humor, good one, thanks for the laugh! 🤣
What did Jamaica do to deserve Kari Lake?
At any rate, don't let the door hit you... who knows, if Jamaica doesn't work, there's Iowa.
