PHOENIX — A juvenile is dead and three others are in the hospital after a two-vehicle collision in Peoria on Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers with the Peoria Police Department responded to the area of Happy Valley Road and Lake Pleasant Parkway for the crash around noon.

The collision involved a black Honda Civic, which was occupied by five juveniles, and a red Nissan passenger vehicle, which had just one adult driver.

The preliminary investigation indicated the Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Lake Pleasant Parkway when the Nissan attempted to make a left turn, resulting in the collision.

The crash caused the Honda Civic to strike the southwest traffic signal and one juvenile was ejected from the vehicle.

Four of the five juvenile occupants were taken to a nearby hospital, where one was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Honda Civic declined medical transport, remained on the scene, and is cooperating with investigators.

Police advised drivers in the West Valley to expect delays in the area.

The Peoria Police Traffic Services Unit is actively investigating the fatal collision. Impairment does not appear to be a factor.
