Jan Brewer: Gov. Doug Ducey’s stay-at-home extension ‘just too confusing’

PHOENIX — Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer would have preferred a more direct approach from Gov. Doug Ducey regarding his announcement to extend the stay-at-home order until May 15.

“I would have liked to have had a clearer roadmap as to when and how he’s going to prioritize his decisions,” Brewer told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Gaydos and Chad on Wednesday.

“It was just too confusing for me to grasp.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Ducey amended his “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” executive order to allow retailers not previously deemed as essential to start selling their goods in a limited, take-home capacity beginning May 4.

Those businesses can then offer in-store purchases on May 8 — so long as social distancing guidelines are enforced.

Brewer said she believes it may have been a better idea for the governor to leave the original executive order and its policies in place until at least May 15.

“The presentation just was not clear,” Brewer said.

“It just … gave not a lot of hope.”
