PHOENIX – Acclaimed singer-songwriter James Taylor announced Monday that he’ll be launching his 2025 North American tour in Phoenix.
Taylor is hitting the road with his All-Star Band on a 24-date trek that starts May 5 at Footprint Center, home of the Phoenix Suns. Boston folk-pop trio Tiny Habits is coming along as JT’s special guest.
Presales for the Arizona concert start Tuesday, and tickets go on sale to the general public via Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. Friday.
When was the last time James Taylor played in Arizona?
Footprint Center was the site of Taylor and his All-Star Band’s last Grand Canyon State appearance. The July 2022 set spanned Taylor’s 50-plus-year career and included beloved soft rock standards such as “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Fire and Rain” and “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),” according to setlist.fm.
Taylor, 76, was a member of Southern California’s renowned Laurel Canyon music scene in the late 1960s and early ‘70s. His second release, 1970’s “Sweet Baby James,” clocked in at No. 182 on the most recent Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
Taylor has been nominated for 19 Grammy Awards and has six of the golden gramophone trophies in his case. His most recent release, “American Standard,” won the Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album in 2021.
He’s also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015.
