One person has died after police shot them dead in Phoenix on Sunday, authorities said.
The Phoenix Police Department said the incident occurred near 19th Avenue and Cheryl Drive. Officers responded on scene around 11 a.m. over a report of a person with a knife and “threatening harm,” according to ABC15.
Upon arrival, officers found the person, who did not comply during the interaction with police, authorities said. Details were not revealed about what led to officers firing their weapons, but police confirmed the person was shot and died on scene.
Phoenix police said no officers were injured in the shooting and there are no outstanding suspects.
The Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division is handling the investigation of the shooting. No other information was made available.
