PHOENIX – Traffic heading north out of metro Phoenix was delayed Wednesday afternoon after a serious injury collision shut down Interstate 17 temporarily near Bumble Bee, authorities said.

The crash occurred at milepost 249 past Black Canyon City, about 50 miles north of downtown Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The southbound lanes were not affected.

The I-17 collision involved two vehicles, and emergency crews had to extract one of the drivers, DPS said.
