Drivers in West Valley to deal with closure on Interstate 10 this weekend

PHOENIX — A closure of Interstate 10 in the West Valley this weekend will hinder drivers.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between 75th Avenue and the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvement work, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in a press release.

The northbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway ramp to westbound I-10, and the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 67th Avenue are both scheduled to be closed.

The highway will also close intermittently for up to 15 minutes each time in both directions between 16th Street and Seventh Avenue north of downtown Phoenix from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday for APS overhead power line work.

The project will close several ramps in the area, ADOT said, including the southbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound I-10, the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 16th Street, the westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at 24th Street, as well as the eastbound I-10 on-ramps at Third and Seventh streets.

In the North Valley, the westbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway is scheduled to be narrowed to four lanes, with the right lane closed, in areas between Pima Road and Princess Drive and State Route 51 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday for pavement maintenance.

The project will also close the westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Tatum Boulevard.

In southeast Mesa, both the eastbound and westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway ramps to the State Route 24 Gateway Freeway are scheduled to be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for overhead sign work.
