Innings Festival stepping back up to plate at Tempe park in 2022

PHOENIX – After a year on the bench because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Innings Festival is returning to Tempe Beach Park in 2022 for its fourth edition.

Next year’s celebration of music and baseball is set for Feb. 26-27, organizers announced this week.

Information about the lineup and tickets has not yet been revealed. Fans can sign up for email updates at the event’s website.

In addition to the big-name musical acts, Innings Festivals have featured appearances by Major League Baseball stars and baseball-themed activities along with retail, food and beverage vendors.

The event debuted as a three-day affair to coincide with spring training baseball in 2018, with Queens of the Stone Age, The Avett Brothers and Chris Stapleton as the headliners.

It was then scaled back to two days, with the 2019 bill topped by Incubus and Eddie Vedder and 2020 capped by Dave Matthews Band and Weezer.

The 2021 version had been set for Feb. 27-28, but it was canceled in November of last year, when the concert industry was shuttered in the midst of the pandemic.

The 2022 Innings Festival hasn’t yet determined if it will require COVID-19 measures such as proof of vaccination or a recent negative test, which have become standard at many concert venues.

“Innings Festival organizers are in regular communication with local health and public safety officials and will follow current recommendations and guidelines at the time of the festival,” the website’s information page says in the safety and security section.

“As the weekend approaches, Innings Festival patrons will receive regular updates with important information regarding safety policies and procedures before entering the festival, which will also be shared at www.inningsfestival.com on social media and via the Innings Festival email list.”
