PHOENIX – A massive illegal marijuana operation was uncovered in east Phoenix on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on the indoor enterprise near 40th Street and McDowell Road and found what Sheriff Jerry Sheridan called one of the largest illegal grow operations he’d seen in over a decade.

The bust was made after MCSO’s Special Investigations Division intercepted tips and packages of suspected illegal shipments.
