Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run collision in north Phoenix

PHOENIX – Authorities are searching for the vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run incident in north Phoenix on Monday night.

Officers responded to a call about a vehicle-pedestrian collision near 35th Avenue and Thunderbird Road around 7:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Upon arrival, they found an adult victim in critical condition. The woman, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after emergency responders took her to a nearby hospital.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian left the scene before police arrived.

“Preliminary information indicates the woman was crossing midblock and was not using a crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle,” Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez said in a media advisory.

No other details were made available.

Anybody with information about the hit-and-run incident is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish. Callers can remain anonymous, and tips that lead to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward.
