Suspect arrested in connection with deadly hit-and-run collision in Phoenix

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run collision in Phoenix on Wednesday that left one person dead, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run collision in Phoenix on Wednesday that left one person dead, authorities said.

Officers responded to the scene near 34th Avenue and Maricopa Street after hearing reports of the collision shortly before 6 p.m.

They found 41-year-old Angelica Pesqueira-Corrales with serious injuries. The Phoenix Police Department said the driver of the vehicle that hit her drove off before police arrived.

Pesqueira-Corrales was brought to a hospital, but died while receiving treatment.

Detectives who took over the investigation believe the vehicle was westbound on Maricopa Street when it struck Pesqueira-Corrales who was in the roadway.

On Saturday, police said they arrested 36-year-old Denisse Rodriguez-Cardenas following an investigation that identified her as the driver of the vehicle. 

No other information was made available.
