Heavy traffic clearing up on southbound I-17 as Labor Day draws to a close
People returning to the Valley from the high country after the holiday weekend are running into some delays on southbound Interstate 17.

PHOENIX — People returning to the Valley from the high country after the holiday weekend experienced some delays on southbound Interstate 17.
A multi-mile backup began before Camp Verde and continues past Cordes Junction, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in a press release just after 3 p.m. on Monday.
There was also a backup present near Black Canyon City and the Sunset Point rest area.
Delays have eased considerably, according to ADOT.
The I-17 delays have eased considerably; the only pockets are roughly one or two miles near Cordes Junction, and about four miles near Black Canyon City.
