Search crews find body of woman who went missing while hiking in Scottsdale

PHOENIX — Hannah Moody, a 31-year-old woman who went missing while hiking in Scottsdale, was found dead Thursday, authorities said.

There were no signs of foul play, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

Moody was last seen at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve recreation area on Wednesday morning. Concerned friends reported her missing around 7:50 p.m.

Authorities searched the area on the ground and by air until around 11:30 p.m. and resumed the efforts in the morning.

Where was Hannah Moody’s body located?

A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office helicopter found Moody’s body around noon Thursday. She was located off-trail about 600 yards from the Gateway Trailhead parking lot, where her car was still parked.

Moody’s father told ABC15 his daughter was an avid hiker.

The police investigation is in its early stages.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine a cause of death.
