Savannah Guthrie says her family ‘still has hope’ in video 2 weeks after mother went missing

PHOENIX — It has been a full two weeks since Nancy Guthrie went missing from her Tucson home, but her daughter and “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie said her family “still has hope” that she will be found safe.

On Sunday night, Savannah posted a video to Instagram expressing hope and that whoever is responsible for her mother’s disappearance will “do the right thing.”

“To whoever has her or knows where she is, it’s never too late. And, you’re not lost or alone,” Guthrie said. “It is never too late to do the right thing. And we are here. We believe.

“We believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late.”

Law enforcement agents have been gathering more potential evidence as the search for the “Today” show host’s mother heads into its third week.

Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her Arizona home on Jan. 31 and was reported missing the following day. Authorities say her blood was found on the front porch. Purported ransom notes were sent to news outlets, but two deadlines for paying have passed.

Authorities have expressed concern about Guthrie’s health because she needs vital daily medicine. She is said to have a pacemaker and has dealt with high blood pressure and heart issues, according to Pima County Sheriff Department’s dispatcher audio on broadcastify.com.

The investigation led law enforcement to a home near her Tucson-area residence where two people were reportedly detained late Friday night.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told KOLD News on Saturday morning that the activity was “nothing more than a lead tracked down that led to a search warrant and no arrest.”

Nanos added that there were no signs of Guthrie at the house. The sheriff also confirmed that a person was detained at a traffic stop but was later released, reportedly describing them as cooperative.

AZFamily’s Briana Whitney reported the FBI is waiting for evidence testing results to come back before providing an update regarding Friday night’s activity.
