Gun found in 9-year-old’s backpack at Glendale school

PHOENIX — Glendale police said a 9-year-old student brought a handgun to Glendale American Elementary on Friday.

A 4th-grade student reported seeing a gun in a backpack, and a teacher took possession of the gun.

The 9-year-old reported she was “dared” to bring the gun to school by another student.

No students or faculty were threatened or harmed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Glendale Police said they encourage children to report anything they find suspicious, especially any weapons at school.
