PHOENIX — Admission to the Grand Canyon and other National Park Service areas in Arizona will be free Tuesday in celebration of the service’s 104th birthday.
Visitors won’t have to pay an entrance fee to visit Arizona’s more than 20 NPS offerings, one of six days free admission at parks across the country will be offered this year.
Coronavirus precautions are still in place at most parks, including at the Grand Canyon.
Desert View and the east entrance to the park are still closed because of COVID-19 lockdowns on the neighboring Navajo Nation.
Visitors must enter and exit the park through the south entrance.
Those who can’t make it to an NPS location Tuesday will have two more opportunities for free entry in 2020.
Park entrance will be free Sept. 26 for National Public Lands Day and Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.
More information about NPS can be found on its website.
