Gov. Ducey orders flags at half-staff to honor late Capitol police officer

PHOENIX- Governor Doug Ducey has ordered U.S. flags at half-staff in honor of a capitol police officer killed in the line of duty.

Capitol Police Officer William F. Evans was defending the U.S. Capitol from an attack early Friday when a man rammed a car into him and one other officer.

Following President Biden’s order, Gov. Ducey ordered flags to be at half-staff until sunset on April 6.

“Arizona joins our nation in mourning the loss of Officer William F. Evans, who tragically lost his life defending the U.S. Capitol,” Ducey said in a statement.

“We are also praying for the recovery of the second officer injured today. I’ve ordered flags be lowered to half-staff to honor Officer Evans’s life and the sacrifice he made in defending the public.”
