Glendale Police seeking suspect accused in fatal hit-and-run of 37-year-old man

The Glendale Police Department is seeking help identifying the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a 37-year-old man on Wednesday night.

PHOENIX — The Glendale Police Department is seeking help identifying the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a 37-year-old man on Wednesday night.

Vernell Whiterock was struck by a silver Nissan Sentra near the intersection of 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road at about 9:30 p.m., Glendale Police said in a press release.

Detectives said Whiterock was crossing Bethany Home Road when he was hit by the vehicle, which didn’t remain at the scene.

The Sentra, thought to be made between 2013 and 2019, sustained windshield and front-end damage, according to police.

Silent Witness is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the identification of the suspect.

Glendale Police’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the collision.
