Glendale police seek bank fraud suspect accused of stealing $250K from elderly victim

Glendale police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man they say withdrew about $250,000 from an elderly victim’s bank account.

The suspect made four large withdrawals from the out-of-state victim’s account at the Chase Bank at North 57th Drive and West Glendale Avenue on May 5, according to the Glendale Police Department.

Detectives said the suspect contacted the victim by phone, claiming there was an unauthorized transaction on the victim’s bank card and that he needed a code sent from the victim’s phone to dispute the charge.

The thief then used the code to access the account and complete the withdrawals, police said.

Glendale Police released surveillance images of the suspect wearing a white button-up shirt, suit and tie to social media to solicit tips.

“Your assistance can make all of the difference in getting justice for this elderly victim,” police said in the public appeal posted Tuesday afternoon.
