Georgia fugitive arrested in Arizona as part of child sexual exploitation investigation

A fugitive wanted in Georgia as part of a child sexual exploitation investigation was arrested in Glendale last week, authorities said.

Joshua Jacobs is accused of exchanging child sexual abuse material with a 12-year-old child and coercing the victim to send him sexually explicit images, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

A warrant from DeKalb County, Georgia, was issued for Jacobs’ arrest in June.

The U.S. Marshals Service tracked Jacobs to Arizona and took him into custody Wednesday.

During the arrest, investigators found evidence related to the child sexual exploitation investigation.

Jacobs is being held at a Maricopa County jail as he awaits extradition to Georgia.

“This arrest reflects the outstanding collaboration between our regional fugitive task forces and our state and local law enforcement partners,” District of Arizona U.S. Marshal Van Bayless said in a press release. “Together, we will continue pursuing those who prey on children and work tirelessly to ensure they are held accountable for their crimes.”
