Flash flood warning issued for Maricopa County until Sunday

PHOENIX — A flash flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Maricopa County until 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

As of 6:39 p.m., radar indicated strong to severe thunderstorms east of the Phoenix metro area, bringing with them strong winds, heavy rain and hail.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks, streams, country roads, farmland and other low-lying spots.

Avoid walking or driving through flooded areas and move to higher ground.
