Woman accused of killing her mother in northern Arizona over weekend

A woman was arrested over the weekend for allegedly killing her mother in northern Arizona, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A woman was arrested over the weekend for allegedly killing her mother in northern Arizona, authorities said.

Officers initially responded to a noise complaint at 16 E. Terrace Ave., near Elden Street and Route 66, around 4 a.m. Sunday, according to the Flagstaff Police Department.

As they approached the home, they heard a gunshot from inside.

Police made contact at the door with Mea Brodie, who allegedly confirmed a gunshot before trying to shut the door.

Officers detained her and entered the residence to conduct a welfare check. That’s when they found Doris Brodie dead from a gunshot wound in the living room.

Mea Brodie was taken into custody and will be charged with the murder of her mother, police said.

No other details were made available.
