PHOENIX — Firefighters were able to extinguish a large pallet fire at a lumber facility in Phoenix, authorities said Monday.
Phoenix Fire crews were dispatched to AMC Pallets and Lumber Company at 35th Avenue and Buckeye Road following reports of a debris fire, department spokesman Capt. Todd Keller said in an email.
Crews found a pile of lumber on fire that workers said was recycled wood used to build pallets. Nobody was injured during the incident.
Smoke from the fire was visible from Interstate 10 at 43rd and 35th avenues.
Firefighters were quickly able to gain control of the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the office building located behind the lumber yard, Keller said.
Crews were to remain on scene for hours to extinguish the remaining hotspots.
Investigators were on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
