Early-morning fire at Motel 6 in Phoenix leaves 1 injured

One person was injured after a fire broke out at a Motel 6 in Phoenix on Sunday morning, authorities said.

PHOENIX — One person was injured after a fire broke out at a Motel 6 in Phoenix on Sunday morning, authorities said.

At 3:30 a.m., crews responded to a call near 53rd Avenue and McDowell Road, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the third floor of the three story building.

Firefighters deployed hose lines and a ladder company to put out the fire.

One person was injured in the fire and was taken to the hospital in stable condition, authorities said. No firefighters were injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is not known and is under investigation.
