Festival to celebrate Mexican culture brings authentic cuisine and entertainment to Phoenix

PHOENIX – Arizonans looking to celebrate Mexican culture won’t have to go far this weekend.

On Sunday, downtown Phoenix will be home to the El Grito Festival, which will honor Mexican Independence Day.

The third year of the festival aspires to bring the spirit and culture of Mexico to life through family-friendly attractions.

To embrace the culture, the event will offer authentic Mexican cuisine and beverages, such as Aguas frescas and margaritas.

Mariachi music and ballet folklorico will bring lively entertainment to the festival. Singer Beatriz Adriana headlines the the event, along with other artists such as Mariachi Continental Azteca, Los Kortez De Sinaloa, Banda la Alterada, Los Mas Sierrenos and Los Dinamicos del Norte.

To round out the experience, festival goers can watch lucha libre wrestling and browse arts and craft booths.

The festival will be located at Third Avenue and Adams Street in downtown Phoenix and will last from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Presented by Councilwoman Betty Guardado has presented the festival each year.
