Arizona man sentenced to 5 years in prison for drug, weapon offenses

PHOENIX — An Arizona man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to selling narcotic drugs out of his residence, according to the state’s top prosecutor.

Javier Briseno also pleaded guilty to misconduct involving weapons, according to a Wednesday announcement from Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes.

His sentencing followed a June 2024 investigation in which law enforcement found the following items while executing a search warrant at his home:

• 1,232 cannabis cartridges.
• Around 5.3 pounds of marijuana.
• 396 packages of THC edibles.
• A loaded .22-caliber rifle

At the time, Briseno was on felony probation related to his 2021 conviction for trying to possess marijuana for sale, prosecutors said.

Charges for felon selling narcotic drugs out of his home

A grand jury indicted Briseno on Feb. 10, 2025, of these charges: conspiracy, illegally conducting an enterprise, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, and misconduct involving weapons.

He pleaded guilty to possessing narcotic drugs for sale and misconduct involving weapons last week.

After his prison sentence, he will also face a term of supervised probation on the weapons conviction, prosecutors said.
