PHOENIX — The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying the remains of a man who died in a fire earlier this month on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.
In a press release, FBI officials said the man died in the Dec. 1 fire at an abandoned house just north of the police station in Whiteriver, a Native American community south of Pinetop.
The house, which is a total loss, was frequented by local transients, the press release said.
Fire crews found the body as they were putting out the blaze.
The man is described to be about 5 feet 5 inches tall and was most likely between 34 and 55 years old at the time of his death.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI’s Phoenix Field Office.
