Father, daughter in serious condition after explosion

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man and his 8-year-old daughter are in serious condition due to an explosion in Phoenix Saturday, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The incident occurred in north Phoenix near Deer Valley and Cave Creek roads.

Authorities believed the fire happened after a flammable substance was used over an open flame, causing the explosion.

The father and daughter were transported to the Maricopa Burn Unit and are in serious condition.
