44-year-old man killed in south Phoenix shooting

A fatal south Phoenix shooting left a man dead, the Phoenix Police Department said. Two men were questioned about the Sunday shooting.

PHOENIX — A man in his 40s was killed after a south Phoenix shooting on Sunday night, authorities said.

Officers with the Phoenix Police Department found 44-year-old Johnathan Joel Rosenlund with a gunshot wound in the area of 19th Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 9:45 p.m.

They also detained two men they believe to have been involved in the shooting, police said.

Medical personnel declared Rosenlund dead on the scene.

Both of the suspects have been released following an interview with detectives at the police department’s headquarters.

No further details were released as this is an ongoing investigation.
