Suspect arrested in fatal West Valley shooting

PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested in a fatal West Valley shooting on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Johnny Olivarez Sr., 42, was arrested for allegedly killing Ruben Longoria, 35, according to a Thursday Phoenix Police Department announcement.

A little after 7 a.m., officers responded to a call near 6100 West Indianola Avenue, according to police.

Police found Longoria suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Longoria died at the scene from his injuries, according to police.

Detectives learned early in the investigation that Olivarez was a suspect in the shooting.

Police worked with other agencies to locate Olivarez and arrested him at a home near 3100 North 65th Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing.
