Phoenix shooting leaves man dead, suspect at large, police say

PHOENIX — Detectives are investigating a fatal Phoenix shooting at an apartment complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers with the Phoenix Police Department found the victim, 26-year-old Damien Jackson Jr., with a gunshot wound shortly after 2 p.m.

He was lying in the common area between two apartment buildings, police said.

Although medical personnel with the Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene to provide care, he was pronounced dead on the scene.
