Police investigating after woman killed in Phoenix hit-and-run incident

PHOENIX – Authorities are seeking help identifying a vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run collision in Phoenix.

Celeste Gomez, 32, was struck Tuesday night while crossing Van Buren Street near 30th Avenue, outside a crosswalk, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to a serious crash call around 10 p.m. and found Gomez unresponsive in the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle, which was heading west on Van Buren, fled the area before authorities arrived.

Police released surveillance camera images Thursday of a light-colored pickup truck that might be involved.
